- Natural citrine color is uniformly distributed through the crystal; heated shows zoning (darker at the tips, fading toward the base).

Heated amethyst is real quartz, real yellow-orange, and works perfectly fine for many people's purposes, but the label matters for transparency.

- Honest sellers will answer directly. Evasive answers ('all citrine is natural quartz') or refusal to answer are red flags. Many reputable sellers proactively disclose treatment in the product description.

- Reliable on its own, willingness to disclose treatment is a strong seller-trust signal.
5. UV light response
Moderate- What you need:
- A 365nm longwave UV flashlight (about $15)
- How to do it:
- In a dark room, shine the UV light onto the crystal and observe any fluorescence.
- What to look for:
