Yes to both. The birth time is needed because the Hour Pillar is one of the four, and an honest favorable element (用神) depends on it. The child's sex is needed because the classical Zi Ping direction rule for the Luck Pillars keys on the polarity of the year stem combined with the sex on the birth record, so the sequence cannot be walked without it. Hospital records carry the birth time, and a birth city lets the reading apply True Solar Time (真太陽時) correction.
Does the kit predict my child's future or guarantee a name will bring success?
No. The classical line that anchors every page is that this is a pattern, not a verdict. The Luck Pillars name the theme of each decade, never specific events; and in the classical view a name is a post-natal adjustment (後天) that supports and harmonizes the chart, never a promise of wealth, health, or success.
