⚕️ Critical: This is not medical advice
Kidney health and lower-back conditions require modern medical care. Nephrology and orthopedic spine medicine are evidence-based disciplines. If you have any symptom suggestive of kidney trouble (changes in urination, persistent back pain, swelling), see a doctor. CrystalStones.com describes the classical mapping; we do not recommend using it in place of clinical care.
How does Libra map to the body?
Libra rules the kidneys and lower back in classical medical astrology, the body's filtering-and-balancing region. Culpeper considered Libra's region 'the body's scales.'
Manilius; Culpeper
Classical melothesia assigned Libra the kidneys and the lower back, what Culpeper's sources called the body's scales. Modern anatomy does not use this mapping.
Libra in classical melothesia governs the loins and lower back, what Culpeper's sources called the reins. The symbolic logic is again poetic: Libra is the scales of the zodiac, and the sources named its region the body's own scales. Venus rules Libra, and Renaissance practitioners associated Venus with herbs that soothe, cool, and balance, many of the herbs Culpeper filed under this region of the body are 'Venusian.'
The mapping has continuous documentation from Manilius to Culpeper to modern integrative practice. It is real history. It is not, on its own, clinical guidance.

Medical astrology is a historical symbolic system, a real and well-documented chapter in the history of Western astrology, not medical advice. The classical rules (Manilius, Culpeper, Hellenistic and Renaissance practitioners) are described here for their cultural and reflective interest. CrystalStones.com does NOT recommend timing surgery, medication, fertility decisions, or any other medical care around moon signs. If you are facing a medical decision, talk to a qualified physician. The classical rule is symbolic; your doctor is not.
Cassandra pairs Libra with Venus-resonant stones kept nearby during a deliberate rest, an hour with nothing scheduled in it. The practice is rest, not treatment, and the stone marks the hour rather than acting on anything.

Symbolic logic: Libra is the scales, and Culpeper's sources read the sign's region as the body's own scales, the place where balance is kept. Mapping by affinity, not by mechanism.
Rose Quartz, Amazonite, and Lapis Lazuli are the contemporary pairings, Venus-resonant stones chosen for Libra's relational and balancing themes. Symbolic only.
Some contemporary practitioners treat Moon-in-Libra days as a cue to drink more water, borrowing the sign's older balance symbolism. Drinking adequate water is good practice all month. CrystalStones.com does not endorse special hydration timing by lunar transit; that is not how renal physiology works.
